We are thrilled to announce that we were awarded one of the seven humane farming Capacity Building Grants distributed this year by the Food Animal Concerns Trust (FACT). FACT is a national nonprofit that promotes the safe and humane production of meat, milk, and eggs. This grant will help us make welfare improvements to benefit our livestock on pasture, which will help us achieve Certified Animal Welfare Approved by A Greener World.
This is the third year that FACT has offered grants for farm improvements that result in successful animal welfare certification. As in past years, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals® (ASPCA) is generously underwriting FACT’s 2019 Animal Welfare Certification Grants. This year FACT awarded 38 grants to farms located in 19 different states, including 20 Pasture Improvement Grants, 11 Animal Welfare Certification Grants, and seven Capacity Building Grants. With these new grantees, FACT has cumulatively awarded 157 grants totaling over $355,000.00 to family farmers across 34 states, directly impacting more than 97,000 animals since the inception of the grants program in 2012.
